I have vowed this year to replace quantity with quality. It’s only taken me forty-seven years to come to this conclusion. I believe this is the direct result of being raised in a family which included five siblings…..the fastest off the mark will benefit (read: get) the most! Too old for a basket, you say? Never! I insist everyone would (even secretly) enjoy one, especially if well thought-out, lovingly prepared, and filled with the right goodies!
This year, my Easter baskets won’t be filled (or, should I say, overfilled) with inferior chocolates and jellybeans. Only the best will do, and that’s easily accomplished when Saratogians have at their disposal vendors like The Candy Company on Washington St., and Saratoga Sweets of Halfmoon, both of whom have made it so easy to create a basket we can all be proud of!
While you’re at it, why not add a famous Saratoga Peppermint Pig, or for that matter, a delicious jar of Sundae’s Best Fudge Sauce? (produced locally in Greenfield Center). For peanut butter lovers, there’s mouth-watering (and healthful!) variations made and available locally from Saratoga Peanut Butter Company.
I’m excited. And I don’t think I’ll be finding old jelly beans or earless chocolate bunnies after Memorial Day this year, either! I hope you enjoy the holiday, and your Easter “Made in Saratoga” creations.
