Indie Film Shot in Saratoga Receives Praise From Film Festivals Across US
The springs have been famous for a long time, but now Saratoga is becoming a full-blown movie star, with a leading role as the filming location for the new indie comedy “Virgin Alexander”.
Virgin Alexander Trailer from Don’t Panic Films on Vimeo.
Directed by Sean Fallon, a Saratoga native, the film was shot in and around Saratoga Springs.
From the trailer, it appears as though quite a few recognizable landmarks made it into the film. I can recognize the brick archways of the Roosevelt Baths in Saratoga Spa State Park, and it looks like Adirondack Trust Insurance and Leon’s might be in the movie as well.
The finished film has been screened in New York City and Las Vegas film festivals and has won over the audience and received awards and acclaim.
In June, the VisionFest! in NYC nominated ‘Virgin Alexander’ for five awards, and the movie won for Best Editing. Two weeks ago at the Las Vegas Film Festival, the indie comedy won Best Feature Film.
The Capital Region has been excited to see this fledgling success, and has arranged two screenings (after the first sold out!) at the Spectrum 8 Theatres in Albany. As of 9am today, there were 82 tickets left – hurry before the second screening sells out too!
See more details about the screening, or call (518) 449-8995.
