Something’s brewing in the Cupcake Lab…and it whiffs of new changes.
As of August 4, the Lab is now a full-service bistro, with a new dinner menu and a beer & wine list that traverses the globe.
This in addition to the already popular custom cupcakes and cakes that give the establishment its name. Never fret sweettooths (sweetteeth?), the tasty confectioneries remain.
The new menus will operate in the same fashion as the cupcakes: fun, eclectic, affordable, with ideas from all over the world.
Each night will be dynamic and different, because the owners are committed to keeping ingredients fresh and interesting, which means variation from day to day.
Beyond ‘fresh and interesting’, owners Mike and Liz Phillips strive to keep ingredients local, using produce and meat from area farmers.
In addition, all of the Lab’s soups and breads are homemade from scratch, and the Phillips’ coffee is ground and brewed in-house – it doesn’t get more local than that.
Aside from the menu and new liquor list, the other changes include extended hours and an unofficial nickname – shortened to “the Lab”, to emphasize the menu’s expansion beyond cupcakes.
New hours are from from 8am daily, to 4pm Sun-Mon, 6pm on Tuesdays, and to 9pm Weds-Sat (6pm-9pm are Lab dinner hours).
For more information, contact the Lab at 583-3144.
Have you tried the new dinner menus at the Lab already? What did you think? Do you like the new nickname, or will you continue saying “The Cupcake Laboratory”? Tell us!
