It’s really difficult to not get drawn into the upbeat gaiety that is Irish Music, once given a chance. Our area is very fortunate to host one of the top five celebrations of Irish Music and Dance in the country, right at the Saratoga County fairgrounds! Check out the 15th Annual IrishFest 2000 and plan on settling in for the long haul (bring the family!)
Several stages will feature some of the top thirty acts in Irish Music today, from cutting-edge newcomers (Girsa, a celebrated all-girl traditional ensemble from Pearl River, NY), to “old-timers” like the Glengarry Boys, as well as local favorites Hair of the Dog and Kevin McKrell, and rockers Black 47. Whatever your preference, you’re sure to find your pleasure at this huge celtic musical celebration! Local dancers will be on-hand to stomp it out with the musicians.
Take advantage of the opportunity to shop for various Irish wares, from shortbread, tea and biscuits to T-shirts, jewelry, and woolens. All will be well-represented and a real convenience for early gift-shopping!
Foodies will delight in the traditional fare such as corned beef sandwiches which will be served up alongside the usual fair offerings (with a side of Guiness if you’re up for it!)
Kids will enjoy activities in the children’s area, and under 10 are free. Admission is a huge value at $16-$29, with $3 parking.
