The art gallery “Mimosa’s” has settled in to a new home at 489 Broadway, and is ready to celebrate with a grand opening!
The goal of the gallery, according to its website, is “to show that ‘art’ can be functional and should be used in our everyday lives.”
But the collection in Mimosa’s, owned by Michelle LaLone, is anything but everyday.
It features the photography, furniture, sculpture, and other fine arts by both nationally recognized and local artists, in addition to LaLonde’s own handmade totebags and crafts.
It’s not the first experience LaLone has with Broadway – in 2009, she expanded her gallery into 454 Broadway. This time, the move is permanent.
Mimosa’s is moving from 70C Beekman street, where it has resided since 2005. The new location at 489 Broadway is in the middle of bustling downtown, and is almost 1,000 square feet larger than its former space.
LaLonde has plans to take some of her extra room and turn it into a bridal loft, where she will have space for her custom-designed bridal handbags.
Mimosa’s will have a soft opening this February 3rd, in preparation for a grand opening on February 11th, from 4pm to 7pm.
At the grand opening, LaLonde will sell 10″ x 10″ pieces of artwork, all for $100 or less. It’s your chance to get a unique and decorative work of art for quite a bargain!
The gallery’s regular hours will be 11am-6pm Mon-Weds, 11am-6pm Thurs-Sat, and 11am-5pm on Sunday. For more information, call 583-1163.
