Saratoga Performing Arts Center President Marcia White announced that the new Patron’s Terrace will be named after Former Chairman Bill Dake.
The Patron’s Terrace is currently under construction, formerly called the Patron’s Tent, and will now be a 2,000 sq. ft. hardscaped, patio area. The Terrace is a hospitality area for SPAC’s members at the Patron level and above.
White presented Dake with a replica of a plaque that will be mounted at the Terrace, inscribed with the following quote: “This place is dedicated with gratitude to Bill Dake, for teaching us that ‘SPAC is more than just a performance, it’s an experience.'”
Dake will also be remembered for helping fund the newly renovated facade of SPAC’s Amphitheatre. He presided over the Board since 2005 and helped strengthen SPAC’s financial position, collaboration with artistic partners, programming and operations and creation of a more audience-friendly experience.
Susan Phillips Read, Vice Chairman of SPAC’s Board of Directors, will taking on the role of Chairman. Since 2003, Judge Read has served on the Court of Appeals for the State of New York, the State’s highest court. Throughout the years she has been an active supporter of many performing arts organizations, including SPAC, the NYC Ballet and its children’s programs in the public schools. Her knowledge and experience are great assets to help the future of SPAC.
The new space will have a blue stone fire pit, serpentine shaped sitting walls, greenscaping and patio tables.
