Jodi Brimhall, a Ballston Spa Senior High School teacher, is gathering supplies and donations for elementary school students in Coney Island. The elementary school where her cousin, Stephanie Warner, is a teacher was completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, and the students are now living in either shelters or their flooded out homes.
Jodi will be collecting clothing, sheets, blankets, hygiene supplies, school supplies, games and toys for students in grades pre-k through fifth grade. The students are from the ages of 4 to 14.
On Saturday, November 10, Jodi and her husband will be renting a Uhaul and driving down to Coney Island to drop off all of the supplies and donations to the students in need because of the devastation from Hurricane Sandy. If you wish to donate supplies, please drop off items in the hallway between the Ballston Spa High School and Middle School until Thursday afternoon. All nominal donations or gift cards can be given directly to Jodi in room 202. The teachers are going to be heading out to Staples and Target to get more basic school supplies; a gift card would be great to either stores.
“Thank you so much for anything you can do,” said Jodi Brimhall. “My cousin is a wonderful teacher and cares so much for her students. I can’t imagine what they are all going through.”
