After the track closes and winter sets in, this city is no longer about the horses. Around this time, the flock of ducks in Congress Park takes over Saratoga. We’ve all seen them incautiously crossing the street, demanding food from toddlers, and completely ignoring sidewalk etiquette.
Last week, nearly 50 ducks took it to another level by invading the CVS Pharmacy on Congress Street! See the video!
On Thursday, October 24th around 7pm, the ducks, perhaps shocked like the rest of us by the sudden cold weather, managed to ‘duck’ past two sets of automatic sliding doors and enter the pharmacy.
Quacking and waddling around, the birds didn’t seem to mind the employee shooing them with a mop, and only left after another employee lured them out with popcorn.

Skidmore students found the incident particularly hilarious as they often have similar experiences with the friendly, slightly overweight squirrels on the Skidmore College campus.

Do you think this story is cute, or sad? I cannot understand why these ducks have no shelter or food in the wintertime. Are they not City of Saratoga Springs property? If yes, is this animal cruelty to leave them without?
