Approximately 700 people are hitting the pavement in Saratoga Springs this Sunday, May 3 to walk towards a cure for multiple sclerosis. The National MS Society Upstate New York Chapter has hopes to reach $170,000 from the fundraiser and more than $1.4 million overall from Walk MS, which will take place in 19 Upstate communities throughout May.
Funds raised from the walk will support direct services for over 12,800 people with MS, along with their families in Upstate New York. Money will also go towards research to help find a cure for this chronic and often debilitating disease of the central nervous system. The rate of MS diagnosis is nearly double the national average in the Upstate New York area.
