Spring Into Summer With These Fantastic Garden Tours

We’ve rounded up several great garden tours happening in Saratoga and around the Capital Region in the coming weeks and months for you to check out.

The Soroptimists of Saratoga are hosting their 21st Annual Secret Garden Tour on Sunday, July 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Explore and observe a variety of gardens in and around Saratoga Springs. In addition to viewing some of the city’s most extravagant private gardens, you will have access to an insider tour of Congress Park’s gardens in celebration of the city’s 100th anniversary.

Schenectady

 

The Soroptimists of Schenectady will also be hosting their 12th Annual Garden Tour this year. It’s taking place rain or shine on Saturday, June 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Discover 11 gorgeous local gardens throughout the day and get inspiration for your own garden. While it’s not for a few weeks yet, be sure to get your tickets early. If you buy five tickets in advance, you’ll receive the sixth for free!

Troy

 

“This is a special kind of event that invites visitors into the hidden, green spaces of our city. It really showcases the humanity and livability of Troy,” said Peter Grimm, president of Friends of Prospect Park.

Explore the private sanctuaries of the city dwellers in Troy. The 16th Annual Hidden Garden Tour is a fundraiser that benefits Troy’s Prospect Park. This year, it will be held on Thursday, May 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a self-guided tour that features twenty backyard gardens in the historic Sage College, Washington Park and other adjacent neighborhoods. It typically brings in over 200 individuals, but organizers believe this year could bring record numbers due to heightened interest in Troy.

Albany

 

Last but not least, The Center Square Association and Historic Albany Foundation is hosting their 40th Annual Hidden City House and Garden Tour taking place on Thursday, June 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This self-guided tour features historic homes and gardens in downtown Albany’s oldest neighborhoods. You can follow this tour in any order you would like and at whatever pace you choose. Most of the gardens are within walking distance to each other.
