Saratoga County Fair Updates

Can you believe its almost time for the fair? The Saratoga County Fair is fast approaching and we have you covered with the latest updates! From new contests to cub scouts helping out, check out what will be happening this year on the Fairgrounds.

Wanted: Green Thumbs

Growing a garden filled with fresh produce? You don’t have to be a farmer to enter this year’s Farm Produce Contest. There will be categories for field crop seeds, corn ears, hay, vegetables, potatoes, maple products and more. Junior exhibitors younger than 17 can receive a free pass to the fair with a minimum of two entries, pay the required fee of 15% of the first prize premium and are not a 4H member.

There will be category ribbons, prize money and special awards for certain items and junior exhibitors. Entries must be submitted by Saturday, July 11 by 5:00 PM either online, by mail or in person at the entry office between Tuesday, July 7th and the deadline on the 11th.

Entries must then be brought to the Townley Building on Monday, July 22 and 23 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. There will also be a “Fear Factor Veggie Style” children’s event at the Townley building on July 22nd and 23rd from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM to encourage youngsters to eat their veggies! For trying five different veggies, each child will receive a candy prize and a vegetable plant to grow at home.

Have Any Old Toys?

If so, the Saratoga County Fair needs entries for Children’s Collections. The collections must consist of at least 10 pieces but no more than 30 pieces. The age categories are three to five years old, six to ten years old and eleven to fifteen years old. Past collections have included match box cars, Barbie dolls, marbles and buttons. Every entry will receive a ribbon and prizes will be given for first, second and third place.

Collections can be brought to the Grandstand at the Fairgrounds on Thursday, July 16 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Saturday, July 18 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Lending a Hand

Cub Scout Packs 4015 and 4045, along with Boy Scout Troops 4011 and 4024 made the best of a rainy day on July 1st by putting a fresh coat of paint on the picnic tables at the Fairgrounds. Thank you Boy Scouts, we appreciate the effort and help!
