Don’t have a ticket to the Travers but still want to see American Pharoah run at the track? NYRA has invited racing fans from the Capital Region and beyond to watch American Pharoah and fellow Travers contenders work out on the main track at the Saratoga Race Course on Friday, August 28th.

The main track will be open exclusively to Travers entries from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM on Friday morning. The public is invited to view the workout during the traditional breakfast at the track, with gates opening at 7:00 AM. There is no charge for admission and parking refunds will be issued for all those who depart prior to 10:00 AM.
Breakfast on the lower porch of the Clubhouse will be served on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 7:00 AM. The At The Rail tent will also be open for a breakfast buffet to accommodate additional guests. Seating for both areas will be directed from the host stand on the low porch. Additional concessions will be open throughout the facility on Friday morning and will offer an array of breakfast items including fresh egg sandwiches, breakfast pizza and more.
“Travers Eve is always an exciting day at Saratoga Race Course and the appearance of American Pharoah will only add to the anticipation as the entire generation welcomes for the first time a Triple Crown winner to Saratoga. While Travers Day is completely sold-out, Friday morning provides racing fans the perfect opportunity to see a champion on the track in this historic and beautiful setting,” NYRA CEO and President Chris Kay stated in a press release.
We hope to see you bright and early at the track on Friday morning!
We have come from Hendersonville, Tn and planned to go to the Travers for 9 months, long before the 3 big races. We were disappointed when we got here yesterday and found out we couldn’t get tickets. We found this website about the practice. We will be there Friday morning and hope to see this wonderful horse. Will get there early. Thank you for this website. https://www.saratoga.com/whatsnew/2015/08/american-pharoah-workout-friday.html
Attending the Travers has been a Long Standing tradition for so many people from near and far. I live here, and I didn’t even know until yesterday when I was confirming plans with my sisters to attend again this year that the tickets were “sold out”! I still can not believe that NYRA made the decision to do this. For Heavens sakes…. the record for attendance is some number above 70,000!! I spoke with 2 different set of friends that night to tell them not to bother coming and to cancel any reservations they had made if possible. To say they were disappointed, letdown, and plain mad is an understatement. I know that I am not alone in the confusion and disbelief. Citing safety as the base of reasoning is bologna. Where were all of concerns of safety for the prior Travers Stakes, or “Give-Away Days” prior that the attendance far exceeded 50,000.
Actually, American Pharoah would be the fourth Triple Crown winner to run in the Travers.
And for you whiney Yvonne, stories of Saratoga trying to land this horse have been in the media for well over a month.
