On Tuesday, August 25th, there will be a coming together of local artists and musicians to support a charity that plans to build a school for impoverished children in Uganda.

The Saraoga based charity, The Giving Circle Inc., has organized an International Charity Auction to be held at the Holiday Inn at 232 Broadway starting at 6:00 PM. The proceeds from this event will be used to rebuild a school in Uganda, one of the poorest nations in the world.
The Giving Circle, along with its director and founder, Mark Bertrand, has been recognized across the globe for their work in Uganda and locally for their efforts helping underserved individuals. Bertrand is also one of the founding partners of Saratoga’s Code Blue project, which provides shelter to the homeless in the area during extreme weather conditions.
Well-known local artists, including R.C. Ewell, Mark Andrew Small and others, have contributed works for the cause. There are also a large number of professional and amateur artists not only from the area, but from around the globe who have sent works for this unique auction. In addition to raising funds for the school in Uganda, the second goal of the event is to draw attention to these artists who have generously donated their time to this endeavor. Local musician Andrew Baker, along with Steve Costopolous and his barbershop quartet, will perform from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The auction was organized and conducted by local Bethlehem school teacher, Bill Reilly, who is also coordinator of an international project called “The Global Coalition.” The project connects teachers and students from over 20 different countries to collaborate on projects of peace. Reilly stated, “We need to reach across our planet, not with guns and bombs, but with education and understanding.”
It is expected that this event will be one of the highlights of Travers Week in Saratoga and will attract many of Spa City’s notable social personalities. Don’t miss out on this fantastic event!
Emily, thanks so much. You were a great student in 6th grade. It’s wonderful to see that you are still doing great things. 🙂 Bill Reilly
Thank you, Mr. Reilly! Such a great event for an awesome cause.
