Since it opened as the first pari-mutuel track in the United States for the expressed purpose of racing, Saratoga Raceway has drawn more than 24 million guests and has hosted almost 11,000 racing programs. In 75 racing years, the total on-track handle has exceeded $1.5 billion.
“We couldn’t be more proud of the past 75 years of racing,” said John Matarazzo, Director of Racing Operations, in a statement. “It’s an incredible milestone for us and we look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence that has been the track’s hallmark from the beginning.”
This spring, the Casino and Raceway will feature live racing Fridays and Saturdays at 6:45pm, Sunday matinees at 12:45pm, and a 4pm twilight post for the Thursday cards. One of the highlights of the 2016 season is the eighth annual Joe Gerrity, Jr. Memorial Pace on July 23, which will feature one dash for $260,000 and attracts the best pacers in the Northeast.
