Editor’s Note (7/5/2016): The article has been updated to include information about children’s exhibits.
Although the 175th Saratoga County Fair is less than three weeks away, the fair’s organizers are still interested in more exhibitors, including children, to help make this year’s event bigger and better than ever!

The list of available shows you can register for includes draft and saddle horses, goats, cattle, sheep, talent, farm produce, flowers, culinary, home and fine arts, antiques, fair pageants, 4-wheel drive pull, education, conservation, and more!
To find out more about the exhibitor registration process, or to find the 2016 Saratoga County Fair Handbook, then you should go to the fair’s website. Or, you can also get started on an entry form right now.
For in-person registration or general questions, you can go to the Saratoga County Fair office at 162 Prospect Street, Ballston Spa, or call the office at 885-9701.
Furthermore, if you’d like to join up with educational organization 4-H and exhibit through them, then you should pick up a 4-H Exhibitor Handbook at the Cooperative Extension office at 50 West High Street, Ballston Spa, or find it online. Be aware that all advanced 4-H entries must be submitted at the Saratoga County Fair Office.
The three open children’s categories are Children’s Collections, Art, Science and Social exhibits, and the Lego Contest.
For the Children’s Collections category, entries must consist of at least 10 pieces, at most 30, of memorabilia that has some connection to the 175th anniversary of the Saratoga County Fair. Past entries have included Barbie dolls, marbles, buttons, and match box cars. Submissions are separated by age group: 3-5 years old, 6-10 years old, and 11-15 years old.
You can bring your entries to the Grandstand at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds on July 14, from 10:00AM-2:00PM, and July 16, from 1:00PM-5:00PM. You must remove them by July 25, between 11:00AM-1:00PM, or they will be forfeited after 10 days.
For the Art, Science and Social exhibits category, students may submit a project based on the history of their school 175 years ago. All Saratoga County school districts are participating in this category. Prizes will be awarded to school districts for first, second, and third place, and the four best student entries will receive a cash prize. Judging is separated by age group: grades K-6 and grades 7-12.
You can set up your exhibit on July 14 from 10:00AM-2:00PM at the Grandstand. These entries will only be accepted on this day.
For the Lego Contest, the theme is “A Day at the Fair” with a focus on the number 175 because it is the fair’s 175th anniversary. You can enter anything you build out of Lego blocks that relates to the fair, such as animals or farm equipment. You must include your name, age, and title for the piece with your entry. The age groups are 4-6 years old, 7-9 years old, 10-12 years old, 13-15 years old, and family.
Entries for the Lego Contest should be brought to the Saratoga County Fair Trustco Bank Talent Pavilion/Family Center on July 20 from 10:00AM-12:00PM. You may take them home after judging at 4:00PM.
All entry forms for the children’s categories are available online at the fair’s website and at the Fair Office at 162 Prospect Street, Ballston Spa, NY.
If any of these categories appeals to you, then you must register before the July 9 deadline.
Running from July 19-24, the Saratoga County Fair is going to be fun for the whole family!
