Looking for something fun to do this Father’s Day Weekend? Take the family on a fishing trip to Saratoga Lake! This Saturday, June 18, there’s a free fishing clinic going on, and it’s the perfect time to pick up some new tips!

The Department of Environmental Conservation is offering a number of free fishing clinics throughout New York State this weekend, and clinic participants are allowed to fish for free without a freshwater fishing license or enrollment in the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry. This is a perfect time to teach children to fish for the first time, or to expose the family to a fun new pastime.
In addition to actually fishing, the clinics will include discussions and instruction on fish identification, fishing equipment and techniques, management of fisheries, angling ethics and aquatic ecology.
Saturday’s free fishing clinic will be held at Waterfront Park on Saratoga Lake. Tonya Trombley of The Saratoga Lake Association will be on hand from 8:00AM – 10:00AM and will act as a resource for all participating anglers. If you have any questions about the event, you can contact Trombley at (518) 727-8941.
Once you’ve mastered the basics at the fishing clinic, you’ll be able to participate in New York State’s Free Fishing Weekend on June 25 & 26! Anyone can fish the fresh or marine waters of New York without a license on these designated days.
