Local Saratoga magician Steven Brundage recently appeared on two episodes of America’s Got Talent, but was not selected by the judges to participate in the live shows. Outraged fans clamored for his inclusion, starting a petition, which reached 2,660 signatures, and on August 2nd and 3rd, Brundage will return for a chance to continue on to the next round of the show.
NBC recently announced that Brundage will return to AGT as a Wild Card contestant.
Known for his Rubik’s Cube magic, Brundage is planning to dazzle the judges and audience with a never-before-seen trick.
“There’s a lot of pressure now because I’ve never done [the trick] before,” he said in a statement. “The other tricks I can do in my sleep. I’ve done them 10,000 times. But now I only have a week to prepare – it’s a little nerve-wracking.”
Local and nationwide fans of Brundage were shocked when the magician did not make the cut on his last appearance on the show, which aired on July 13th. He not only saw a standing ovation from the audience, but even received a handshake from Simon Cowell himself – a virtually unheard of gesture for the typically abrasive judge.
“I was voted off,” Brundage said simply in a statement. “I thought, it happens – everyone hits a bump in the road. I was not expecting the petition or the hashtag. It was amazing to see all the tweets.”
Thanks to the thousands of supporters who used the hashtag #BringStevenBack and signed the online petition, we’ll all get a chance to see Brundage wow the crowd once again.
