The rides, the games, the music, the entertainment – there is so much going on at the 176th Saratoga County Fair this week! Of course, you have to eat sometime while you’re out and about enjoying the many activities at the fair. Why not make it the best food the fair has to offer? Guests are apt to feel slightly overwhelmed by all the amazing sights and smells of the fair food, so we’ve rounded up eight absolute must-try treats.
1) Bacon Bombs
One of four brand new food vendors at the fair this year: Bacon Bombs. Bacon bombs are sandwiches consisting of thick cut bacon, Italian sausage, cheddar cheese, and barbecue sauce. Basically, a complete explosion of bacon-y goodness overpowers your taste buds when you bite into this one.
2) Deep Fried Oreos
You read that right – the Saratoga County Fair offers deep fried Oreos! Although one might think deep fried Oreos would be overpowering and heavy, they’re actually anything but. You’re served about five of these delectable little treats – perfect for sharing – and the Oreo just about melts in your mouth.
3) Make Your Own Slushies
This is a fun make-your-own beverage your kids will love! Choose from three different sizes of cups and then create your own slushie by mixing and matching between one, two, or more of 12 different flavors. Pictured here is green apple with sour cherry. Drink slowly though – the brain freeze comes on quickly with this fair treat!
4) Classic Gyros
Fried food and dessert-type treats are excellent at the fair, but you’ll also want to get some sustenance in you for all the rides and activities you’ll be doing. Consider having a gyro for lunch with lamb, lettuce, tomato, and onion. They do not skimp on the tzatziki sauce!
5) Funnel Cakes
You pretty much cannot leave the Saratoga County Fair without trying one of the most traditional fair foods in existence: the funnel cake. Their funnel cake is perfectly sized with that audible crunch you’re seeking and just the right amount of powdered sugar.
Sweet, cool, freshly squeezed lemonade really hits the spot on those hot fair days when you’ve been walking around in the sun all day. The lemonade stand is easy to spot – it looks like a lemon! Stop by on the way to the rides and quench your thirst.
7) Corn Dogs
Another awesome staple fair food is the corn dog. The Saratoga County Fair does not disappoint – their corn dogs have the ideal ratio of hot dog to corn meal mixture that makes this a satisfying treat. It’s kind of like lunch and dessert in one!
8) Philly Cheesesteaks
If the gyro isn’t your jam, for lunch you might want to try a Philly cheesesteak with peppers, onions, and both mozzarella and cheddar cheese. This sandwich was completely overflowing with Philly cheesesteak goodness – you definitely get your money’s worth!
The Saratoga County Fair runs through Sunday the 23rd, so get out there and start gorging on amazing fair food!
