Looking forward to the long weekend? Many of us are! Once you’re done celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, there are plenty of ways you can have a festive and fun-filled weekend in the Saratoga Springs area. From the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train to Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and the Holiday Craft Marketplace, here are some of the best events happening November 24-26.
Experience Holiday Season Celebrations
Don’t miss out on the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train in the Capital Region this weekend. Decorated in colorful lights, this festive train will bring live entertainment and holiday cheer to each stop. The train will be in Saratoga Springs and Mechanicville on Sunday, and then it will head north on Monday. Bring donations and enjoy this unique holiday event.
Drive down to Albany and check out the 21st Annual Price Chopper/Market 32 Capital Holiday Lights in the Park in Washington Park. Over 125 displays and lighted scenes will be featured in the park, and at the end of your drive, you can visit Santa at the Washington Park Lake House. The event will run from November 24, 2017 – January 2, 2018.
The theme of the 25th Annual Holiday Parade in Salem will be “A Very Sparkly Christmas,” and it will kick off at 1:00pm on Saturday. Enjoy the parade and live performances, and then discover great store specials and more going on throughout the community.
Bring the kids to Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa and watch as Santa Claus parachutes to the ground. Greet Santa, and then find the perfect Christmas tree to take home with you from Ellms.
Shop For The Holidays
If you’re willing to brave the stores on Black Friday, then Saratoga Springs is the place to be. Over a dozen shops and boutiques in the downtown area will be offering amazing discounts starting at 6:00am. In addition, early morning shoppers will receive a Black Friday Shopping Bag filled with menus and incentives from local restaurants and event sponsors.

Visit the Saratoga Springs City Center on Saturday from 10:00am-4:30pm and shop at the Holiday Craft Marketplace! You can look forward to a great selection handmade crafts from over 100 artisans, a silent auction, raffles, music, and more. General admission is $5 (includes one raffle ticket).
Support your local Saratoga businesses and shop during Small Business Saturday. In and around downtown Saratoga Springs, there will be a variety of store specials going on at all your favorite businesses throughout the day.
Know someone who could use a painting as a holiday gift this year? Stop by Spa Fine Art in downtown Saratoga during their Small Works Show. This exhibit will include works by over 20 fine artists, and there will be something for everyone. Select paintings will have special pricing for a limited time.
Attend Live Performances
Enjoy a live performance of Rupert Holmes’ exciting musical known as “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” at the Hubbard Hall Center for the Arts and Education in Cambridge. Featuring new characters and plenty of local references, the audience is able to get involved at the very end of each show. This weekend, there will be shows at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday and 2:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
