If you’ve ever been to Lake George, you know how cool its islands are. Not only are they great for camping and picnicking, but they also make the perfect focal points for sunset Instagram photos. It’s too bad Saratoga Lake doesn’t have any islands, isn’t it? Well thanks to the work of an innovative company, that won’t be the case for much longer!

A local developer has hired Florida-based company Islands Incorporated to construct an island in Saratoga Lake! Islands Incorporated has decades of experience building custom islands in various-sized bodies of water.
How does one build an island, you may be wondering. The team starts with an industrial-strength, rust-proof wire mesh frame that stretches from the bottom of the lake to the surface. The frame takes whatever shape the island will be, and can be round, oblong, rectangular, or even a non-geometric shape. The frame is then loaded with rocks and other fill until a solid land mass extends above the surface.
Once the fill stage is complete, Islands Incorporated’s landscaping team takes over, using a combination of soil and hearty, native vegetation to cover the new island in greenery. Trees are planted throughout the island, since their roots help to hold the structure together over time. Islands Incorporated returns each year to evaluate the island and make any fill or greenery additions that the team deems necessary.
After a period of 10 years and if all annual inspections go as planned, the island is approved for construction projects. The long-term plan for Saratoga Lake’s new island is for two dozen luxury condos to be built on it. Condo residents will surely be the envy of the region with their unique accommodations and unparalleled views!
Islands Incorporated will be visiting Saratoga Lake this summer to begin drawing up plans, and construction of the island is expected to begin in May 2019.
Interested in purchasing one of the future condos in advance? Unfortunately, this is an April Fools joke!
