Not only is Star Wars Day this Friday (May the Fourth be with you), but Saturday is Kentucky Derby Day, and there will be plenty of Derby Day parties to choose from. So whether you’re a horse racing fan, a sci-fi fan, or someone looking to have fun this weekend, Saratoga is the best place to be.

Although the 2018 meet at Saratoga Race Course is still months away, racing fans can look forward to the most exciting two minutes in sports this Saturday – the iconic Kentucky Derby! In celebration of this event, many places in Saratoga will be hosting parties and airing the event live on television. Love Star Wars and beer? Attend Kraverie’s May the 4th Be With You event on Friday from 6:00pm-10:00pm! There will be special space movie-themed live music from JP Hubs and beers of all shades of lightness and darkness (you decide which you’d prefer to drink).
Did you know May 5 is also Free Comic Book Day? Join The Comic Depot in downtown Saratoga from noon until 5:00pm and browse their selection of free comics and other merchandise. Several artists and writers will be signing at the shop as well.

Bring your pup over to Impressions of Saratoga for their annual Dog Day! This event is designed for man’s best friend, and it will feature treat tasting, pup-themed games, and more from 11:00am-2:00pm.
If you’re an early riser, then consider taking a trip to Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs this Saturday to watch the thrilling NYS Collegiate Rowing Championships. The races will kick off at 8:00am.
Northshire Bookstore will host Mike Lupica, the #1 New York Times bestselling children’s book author, on Saturday at 2:00pm. During the event, Lupica will share his exciting new chapter book series named “The Zach and Zoe Mysteries.”
Enjoy Great Live Performances
This weekend is your last chance to see Home Made Theater’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! The musical will be performed at the Spa Little Theater on Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, and once more on Sunday at 2:00pm. Don’t miss it!
On Thursday and Friday at both 9:30am and 10:45am, the National Museum of Dance will host a Tiny Tots concert for kids ages 18-months through 6 years of age. Children will love embarking on a magical music adventure with the Albany Symphony and David Alan Miller as they present classical music with Peter & the Wolf, a symphonic fairy tale.
Gather up your friends and make your way to The Saratoga Winery this Saturday night for a fantastic comedy show featuring Mike Hanley and friends! The show starts at 9:00pm, but if you’d like to attend the dinner too, that begins at 7:30pm in the Barrel Room. Tickets are required.
