Thinking about going to the track during Travers Week? Think faster.
As of Friday, July 13, all reserved seats in the Clubhouse, Grandstand and The Stretch are
sold out for Travers Week, which runs Aug. 22 -27.
The sellout of these reserved seats most definitely includes Travers Day, Saturday, Aug. 25, when the 149th running of the Grade 1, $1.25 million stakes race will make Saratoga Race Course the place to be.
Racing fans should take this news about brisk sales as impetus to buy the remaining general admission tickets for Travers Week, and especially for Travers Day. Those general admission tickets are currently available and, for as long as they last, can be purchased in advance with a savings of $5.
Advance grandstand admission tickets are $10, although grandstand admission on Travers Day will be $15 — as long as those tickets last. The New York Racing Association said a limited number of clubhouse admission tickets are still available for $25, although clubhouse upgrades will not be available on Travers Day.
Travers Day Grandstand and Clubhouse admission tickets are available online via Ticketmaster. For local fans, the NYRA Box Office at Saratoga Race Course opens Saturday, July 14.
It’s also worth noting that attendance for the 2018 Travers will again be capped at 50,000 guests. After years in which Saratoga Race Course swelled to over 55,000 spectators for Saratoga’s $1.25 million Grade 1 stakes race, the idea is try and preserve the fun and festive atmosphere in the bucolic and historic race track. That means fewer tickets available!
There are several other big races that are likely to draw sellouts, so planning ahead will ensure admission to reserved areas of the race course. The other stakes races are:
- The Diana on Saturday, July 21
- The Coaching Club American Oaks on Sunday, July 22
- The Jim Dandy on Saturday, July 28
- The Whitney on Saturday August 4
- The Fourstardave on Saturday, August 11
- The Alabama on Saturday, August 18
- The Woodward on Saturday, September 1.
“Reserved seats for the 2018 meet are selling extremely quickly, especially for our big Saturday race cards. Fans who are interested in securing a seat for any of the major stakes this season should do so without delay,” NYRA Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer Lynn LaRocca said in a release.
One way to make sure of access to the track is to purchase a season pass, which provide entry to all 40 days of the meet. These are a pretty sweet deal at $40 for the Grandstand and $65 for the Clubhouse.
For other ways to make Travers Week festive, there are plenty of events away from the track, too!
