2018 marks the 18th season of The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery’s Upbeat on the Roof concert series — a popular event attended by both locals and tourists. This year’s series kicks off on Thursday, and the first artist of the summer will not disappoint!
Opening this year’s Upbeat on the Roof is Girl Blue, aka Arielle O’Keefe, an up-and-coming local artist with an increasing following. She released her first EP, I Am Not A Star, in 2016. In one month, her single “Fire Under Water” garnered over one million plays on Spotify. Girl Blue has been praised by the Huffington Post, Vents Magazine, and other news outlets for her lyricism and unique storytelling.
