What to Expect at Jazz Fest Friday
Jazz Fest Friday is happening on Friday, June 28th, with the Jazz Festival taking place Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th. The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce and Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) are the forces behind Jazz Fest Friday, and it’s presented by the Times Union.
Local businesses and organizations welcome residents and visitors with a lineup of jazz events that serve as a warm up to the main weekend-long event – the entire city comes alive with incredible music, dance, food, and more.
“The event showcases local jazz musicians who are hired to perform live at Saratoga County Chamber member hotels, restaurants, shops, and stores across the City of Saratoga Springs – from Beekman Street to Broadway to Saratoga Lake and beyond,” Todd Shimkus, President of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement.
Events to Look Forward To
Jazz Fest Friday performances include The Hot Club of Saratoga at The Local Pub & Teahouse, the Jon LeRoy Trio at BurgerFi, the George Muscatello Trio at Kru Coffee, and more. Many other restaurants, stores, and hotels are participating in the event.
A highlight of Jazz Fest Friday is undoubtedly jazz pianist Fred Hersch performing at Caffe Lena. Hersch is a fourteen-time Grammy-nominated jazz pianist and composer who will be playing original works in addition to classic jazz pieces. The event centers around The Stonewall Riots and how they shaped his growth as a musician.
