Saratoga Springs is the place to be on New Year’s Eve, largely thanks to the annual First Night Saratoga celebration. Before you focus on welcoming 2020, though, why not challenge yourself to squeeze one more accomplishment into 2019? Registration is open for the First Night Saratoga 5K and it’s the perfect opportunity to achieve one more goal before the decade is over.
The First Night Saratoga 5K kicks off at 5:30pm on December 31 at Skidmore College’s gymnasium and takes runners on a 3.1 mile loop around the campus. The moderately challenging course, which includes both hills and downgrades, is billed as family-friendly, although it should be noted that dogs and strollers are prohibited from the race.
Registration is just $30 through December 23 – then it increases to $35 through December 30 and $40 on race day – so it pays to register early. This year’s giveaway item for registered runners is a reversible running hat that features fleece on one side and moisture-wicking poly on the other.
After the race, grab a free bus downtown to enjoy the rest of the First Night festivities.
