“The community is getting so much out of our daily programming,” Caffe Lena Executive Director Sarah Craig said in a statement. “We don’t want to have to pause.” A double-your-gift challenge grant has been administered to help this Saratoga treasure keep churning out the tunes – and so much more – for years to come.
The Sarah B. Foulke Charitable Fund, named for Saratoga Springs attorney and regular Caffe Lena volunteer Sarah Foulke, supports Saratogians and others through the Community Foundation for the Capital Region. Now, they’re turning their attention to Caffe Lena.
“Caffe Lena is a landmark venue,” Fund Advisor Suzan Nolan said in a statement. “We want to help them evolve their online platform and we’re rooting for them to raise the full $50,000 this month so that we can donate $50,000.”
You can donate online, you have until October 31st, and any and all donations and inquires are welcome. All 100% of your donation will be matched by the Fund. As of this writing they’re over halfway to their goal!
In addition to concerts Caffe Lena offers poetry readings, storytelling events, online music lessons for youth and adults, a non-partisan Community Classroom for discussion of civic topics, and their Caffe Lena On-the-Road service that delivers live music to the elderly and needy.
“If this pandemic has taught us anything it’s that every expression of care, whether it’s a $5 tip, or a $500 donation, or a special comment, they all add up to helping live music survive and grow during this time of extreme challenge,” said Craig.
