Have you been looking forward to hearing news about the annual summer meet at historic Saratoga Race Course? Well the long wait is over! The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has just released the 2021 racing calendar for Saratoga, and you can read about the most important dates below.

It’s Time to Count Down the Days Until the Summer Meet
In a press release, NYRA announced that the 40-day summer meet at Saratoga Race Course will kick off on Thursday, July 15 and continue through closing day on Monday, September 6 (Labor Day). Like in recent years, following opening weekend, there will be 5 days of racing each week with the exception of the 6-day closing week.
Racing fans should also take note that the 2021 summer meet will be anchored by the 94th running of the Whitney on Saturday, August 7 and the 152nd running of the Travers on Saturday, August 28. The remainder of Saratoga’s 2021 stakes schedule will be announced “at the appropriate time,” per NYRA’s press release.
Live racing is underway at Aqueduct Racetrack, and according to NYRA, “to mitigate risk and reduce the spread of COVID-19, New York state currently requires all racetracks to operate without spectators in attendance and with a series of health and safety guidelines in place.” A limited number of horse owners licensed by the state are allowed to attend live racing on days their horse is entered.
As opening weekend at Saratoga Race Course nears later this year, stay tuned for more announcements and updates from NYRA.
