The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will honor our nation’s active duty and veteran service members at Saratoga Race Course on Thursday, July 22. All of those who present their military ID or provide proof of service will receive free admission to the Grandstand. NYRA will also welcome local military members to the winner’s circle for the third race of the day, named in their honor.

Celebrate Military Appreciation Day at the Track
In addition to the recognition given in the third race, service members from New York State Military Forces, including the New York Army National Guard, New York Air National Guard, New York Naval Militia, and New York Guard, will be honored for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic in the winner’s circle after the fifth race.
NYRA President and CEO David O’Rourke stated in a press release that NYRA is “honored to recognize the service and dedication of the men and women of the United States military.”
Following the National Anthem performed by the Racing City Chorus at 12:30pm, NYRA will pay tribute to their own service member and veteran employees with a special ceremony in the winner’s circle. The Racing City Chorus will also greet guests at the admissions gate and perform trackside during the afternoon.
The 2021 Saratoga season is already underway, and Military Appreciation Day is just one of the many special events scheduled for 2021! Racing is conducted each week from Wednesday to Sunday, with the exception of the final week when the meet ends on Monday, September 6.
