The highlight of summer in Saratoga Springs has arrived – Runhappy Travers Day! Whether you’re planning to be at the racetrack or are looking for other things to do this weekend, we have you covered with our roundup of top events below.
Note: It’s going to be an extremely crowded weekend in Saratoga with horse racing, concerts, and other events happening. Plan on arriving early and prepare for heavy traffic.
August 26

Don’t miss out on all of the excitement during Runhappy Travers Day at Saratoga Race Course. The gates will open early at 7:00am, followed by the first post at 11:40am. In addition to the Grade 1, $1.25 million Runhappy Travers, the card will include the Grade 1, $750,000 Resorts World Casino Sword Dancer [Turf], the Grade 1, $500,000 Ballerina Handicap [Filly and Mare Sprint], and more.
Here are some other highlights of Travers Day:
- Listen to live music from Big Medicine and ILL Funk at the Purdy’s Summer Concert Stage.
- Enjoy Mionetto sparkling prosecco samples at the Mionetto gazebo, located across from the Miller Time Fourstardave Sports Bar. Samples will be available from 12:00pm-4:00pm to those 21 and older, while supplies last.
- The Community Outreach Booth will feature the Backstretch Employee Service Team (B.E.S.T.), which is devoted to providing health and wellness services to the backstretch community at New York thoroughbred tracks.
Saratoga County Horse Farm Tour

Interested in some other horse-related fun on Saturday? Check out the annual Saratoga County Horse Farm Tour from 12:00pm-4:00pm. Two local farms are participating in the tour this year: Cross Timbers Ranch in Middle Grove and Mill Creek Farm in Stillwater. The Saratoga County Horse Farm Tour is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the equine industry and visit a real horse farm.

The Friends of the Saratoga Springs Public Library will be hosting a Used Book Sale at the Saratoga Farmers’ Market at High Rock Park. Pick up a selection of gently used books, and while you’re there, stock up on fruits, veggies, and other great products at the market.

The Washington County Fair is underway from now through Sunday, August 27. Come experience all your favorite fair events and traditions, including animal shows, live music, craft beverage tastings, demonstrations, the demolition derby, tasty food, rides, and more.
August 27
Head back to Saratoga Race Course on Sunday for New York Showcase Day! During this annual racing day, New York-breds take the spotlight, and there will be six stakes worth a combined $1.25 million.
New York Showcase Day will also include a celebration of the life of Funny Cide, one of the most successful New York-breds of all time. Funny Cide memorabilia will be signed by his connections at the Jockey Silks Porch from 11:30am-12:30pm.
Adirondack A’s Classic Car Show
August 27
Plan a visit to Lakeside Farms in Ballston Lake on Sunday for the Adirondack A’s Classic Car Show. This annual show will feature classic vehicles from prior to 1975, and spectator parking and admission are free. The event runs from 9:00am-2:00pm.
