How Health Knowledge Hijacked Our Amygdala
We live in a time where we are taking in vast amounts of information. With knowledge at our literal fingertips, we can access in minutes that which may have taken experts years to understand.
Sometimes, this can be overwhelming. Regarding health, it can also be scary.
Many can relate to searching through online blogs in the hopes of finding solutions to our bodily symptoms. Within a few minutes; however, the best of intentions can get derailed, and we end up convincing ourselves that we have some frightening diagnosis. Even if we didn’t have health anxiety to begin with, “Dr. Google” can assist us in getting it.
Furthermore, we are also being bombarded by negative news around every corner.
All these factors make it nearly impossible to not be habitually in a state of anxiety.
Our amygdala’s (emotional brains) have been officially hijacked!
When we are in this space, we cannot heal. This is because our bodies and brains are doing the best they can to just survive.
