As the holidays come to a close and Saratoga’s festive events wind down, many people are reassessing their priorities for the New Year. While only about 30% of Americans plan to set resolutions, January 1st still prompts reflections on new beginnings.
Recent years have brought some exciting events to Saratoga, but also major changes and transitions worldwide. Now, we have constant access to social media and technology, making it easy for many people to fall into the detrimental aspects of social comparison. Our mindless scrolling during our “free time” can quickly and unintentionally feed into “FOMO” (Fear Of Missing Out), which can negatively impact our emotional health and steal our sanity.
Along with pictures of fancy yachts, exclusive social activities, and images of perfect homes on Instagram, current trends in the wellness-sphere have also been preying upon our insecurities. Many influencers are advocating for knowing all our biometrics and posting their impressive, and often hard to attain, health progress to their followers. Their messages portray heath purity and achieving “optimized” results, sometimes through extreme means.
While focusing on health outcomes can be helpful, it can also lead to orthorexia, healthism, and/or unhealthy competitiveness. Pursuing data-backed goals and external validation also can overshadow balanced wellness intentions. In fact, excessive striving for health or fitness can become pathologically unhealthy.
Therefore, this new year, I want to offer you a different mindset for how you can seek to transform for the better into the new year. It’ not through trackers or diet culture messaging. Rather, it can be discovered through an ancient technology at a very low cost. It is a technique that is available to all of us in Saratoga and across the world.
This can be achieved through calming your mind and body and going inward using essential oils. Through accessing your inner wisdom, you can clarify what you need to change based on your personalized needs. In my latest video post, I highlight these concepts in more detail. Topics include:
- How our health obsession can harm us and the pitfalls of “quantified ideology”
- How diet culture aims to always leave us unsatisfied
- Why we need self-care and stress relief resources to access our inner guidance
- A summary on the importance of self-nourishment, following our own truth, and nurturing ourselves

I hope you find this post motivating.
If we start to individually prioritize our inner truths in our Saratoga community, we can inspire others to do the same.
Wishing you a nourishing, nurturing, and peaceful New Year in Saratoga, NY.
