As we approach Christmas and the holy celebrations, there is a palpable quietness that is starting to engulf Saratoga, NY. With the shopping for gifts in Saratoga’s quaint shops mostly complete, and the festive events shifting to Saratoga’s winter activities, many are experiencing a sigh of relief that the seasonal hustle and bustle is dying down.
As the world softens in an overlay of white, we have more time to reflect on the meaning of the season. Whereas secular Christmas brings light to the contrast between materialism and giving, it also provides a tribute to being human, generosity, togetherness, and kindness.
The love that is celebrated through the birth of Christ is profound and sacred. Although some may disagree, it does not have to be separated from Santa Claus. Both personify selfless giving, peace, and joy for all to embrace this time of year.
Whatever form love comes in, it acts as medicine. In fact, this cherished emotion literally changes our brain and neurobiology.
In recent weeks, I’ve shared resources on using essential oils to reduce seasonal stress. Now, with Christmas around the corner, I decided to write a short reflection about what this holiday means to me, both secularly and religiously. I also share with you an aromatic blend to inspire the holiday spirit and to cozy up your house for the chillier months.

May you and your loved ones feel and embrace the spirit of Christmas and spread it through your favorite seasonal events in Saratoga.
Wishing you a blessed, peaceful, joyful, and serene holiday.
