Hudson Crossing Park

Canal Boats, Burgoyne's Bridge, and Beaver Trees...At An Island Near You!

Hudson Crossing SignLooking for a new place to explore? Come visit Hudson Crossing Park, just a short drive from downtown Saratoga Springs in the beautiful and historic countryside of Olde Saratoga! Spend a day watching a barge lock through on the Champlain Canal, sliding down a hillside slide, walking a labyrinth, listening for the Pileated Woodpecker's call, tracing the steps of General Burgoyne's troops, and imagining all who have passed before you.

Hudson Crossing Park is a recreational and educational destination where you can play, picnic, fish, hike, snowshoe, birdwatch, and more. Centered on the island between Lock 5 of the Champlain Canal and the Hudson River, the Hudson Crossing Park includes trails, scenic overlooks, interpretive signage, and a unique Play Garden, as well as a floating dock and a picnic pavilion.

Created and maintained almost exclusively by volunteers, it is a growing destination for local residents and tourists alike. Its mission is to link environmental responsibility with economic revitalization, and to engage people of all ages in making informed choices for a sustainable future. To that end, the Hudson Crossing Park's staff and Board of Directors focus on three objectives:

  • Fostering environmental stewardship
  • Emphasizing the area's natural, cultural, and economic history
  • Establishing a public park that is an educational and recreational destination
