A better chance of showers on Wednesday, but still rather dry for April

The unsettled weather pattern that greeted us with the new workweek in the Saratoga region has brought nothing more than a trace of rain since Monday, but Wednesday will bring a better chance of showers before dry and warm weather returns for the end of the week.

A large area of low pressure over southern Canada will begin to dive southward toward the region on Wednesday as it makes a move to exit. This will bring the best chance of showers all week, but still only scattered chances with not much expected to measure in the rain gauge.

Much of eastern New York remains in abnormally dry drought conditions, with prime wildfire weather likely to continue. In a month that typically has several inches of rain (and even snow), we have only managed 0.13" in Albany and 0.06" in Glens Falls.

High pressure will return to the region by late Thursday and into the beginning of the weekend with dry and sunny conditions and a gradual moderating trend developing.
