This week there is a walk for the animals, Pinkalicious, a carnival and so much more, check it out!
1. Join H.O.P.E. on Saturday, April 28th, 2012 for their 9th Annual Walk for the Animals. This walk welcomes both the two-legged guardians and their four-legged friends for a day of fun and exercise. For each paid registration, you will receive a free tote bag, tee shirt or sweatshirt, along with a professional photo of you and your pet! Great Escape tickets will also be on sale at the walk: $22.50-lowest price of the season, tickets at the gate are $49.99. Good thru mid-June. For more information call (518) 428-2994.
2. Also on Saturday, check out Pinkalicious the Musical! Based on the popular children’s book, Pinkalicious the Musical is a sweet play about just desserts. The show finds it title character craving anything and everything pink! The characters are bright and friendly and the story is delightfully wacky. The show is totally enjoyable, a perfect length and is a fantastic way to introduce children to the wonder of theater and seeing a show performed live. The show begins at 2pm, cost is $10 or $5 for children 12 and under. The show will be at the Saratoga Arts Center, 320 Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
3. Saturday you can also have an opportunity to check out the The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs at their Early Childhood Programs Open House. From 10 to noon at the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs you can meet faculty, staff, parents, and students. Tour their two different Early Childhood locations and view student academic and artistic work. Early Childhood Center- 212 Lake Avenue and Forest Kindergarten- 45 Kaydeross Avenue West. 4. On Sunday, April 29th from noon to 4pm head to Skidmore College Intramural Gymnasium where an Autism Awareness Information Day and Carnival will be presented by ASPIRe N.Y., Inc, Saratoga Bridges Inc. & The Parent Network of the Capital. The event will be sponsored by the Skidmore College Psychology Department in cooperation with Senator Roy McDonald and will have carnival games, a bounce house and fun for the whole family! Presenters attending will have information on Recreational Programs, Summer Camps, Technological Apps for Autism, School Programs: Pre-K through College and Therapeutic Programs. Admission is free.
5. Also on Sunday, the Saratoga Springs Public Library is holding Reconnecting with Nature: A Program for Parents and their Children from 1 to 3:30pm. For children ages 3-9 and their parents or caregivers. Meet in the Crawshaw Story Room and then walk as a group to Congress Park to collect sticks and other items to make a twig vase. Shabana Hoosein of Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will also be on hand to answer any nature-related questions and assist with the project. Please bring a small glass or plastic jar for each child participating. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
