You are looking at one of the most delicious desserts on the planet; an Almond Croissant from Mrs. London’s Bakery. I truly believe this with all my heart. This Holiday Season is an important one for many families, as so many have struggled along with the economy. I am choosing to serve quality over quantity this year, and have even managed to reliquish some “control” (something I’m working on, ok?) over exactly what we will feast upon, with the exception of dessert; on this, I will not be deterred or convinced; we will end our day with Mrs. London’s Almond Crossiants AND, for the first time but I’m sure not the last, one of their Yule Logs, or “Buche de Noel”….
I am ashamed to admit it but I’ve been behind the curve on this jewel of a bakery, and of course many, many people already know it to be world-class (the press has widely covered and sang the praises!) A Yule Log is actually a traditional French dessert comprised of sponge cake, icing, or grenache; I’ve no doubt Mrs. London’s version will be sublime (and in my family, dessert is as important as the actual meal!)
I’ve been two places in my life that really made me feel like I was indeed in the City of Love, without the price tag (of course, I’ve never actually been to Paris)….Montreal and Mrs. London’s Bakery, 464 Broadway, downtown Saratoga. I came awfully close to making a day of it with a girlfriend recently; tea and an almond crossiant, some shopping, followed by an absolutely scrumptious fresh vegetable sandwich; and I’ll take another two almond crossiants to go please. The last two….and I will not apologize even as another client eyed my waxed bag sadly as I finally left this little corner of paradise.
And this is why I know we will not be disappointed in their “Buche de Noel”….order yours in advance by calling Mrs. London’s at 518-1652, x303. It’s the best $65 you will ever spend on a memorable dessert, serving 10-12! And I haven’t even tasted it yet.
