Mio Posto was completely destroyed last year following the Thanksgiving morning fire on Caroline Street. Several restaurants were affected, but Mio Posto received the worst damage and was forced to close.
Now, owner Danny Urschel has announced he’s getting ready to reopen the popular Italian restaurant in Albany.
As first reported by the Times Union, Mio Posto will be taking over the space currently occupied by Lark + Lily Wine Bar and Kitchen on Lark Street. The restaurant will be opening in its new location as soon as June 1st, with Lark + Lily remaining open for the time being. The transition appears to be a positive move for all parties.
“I honestly feel like my role was to foster that space for Danny and Heidi,” Lark + Lily owner Silvia Lily told the Times Union about selling the space to Urschel and his wife.
With the new space comes new and exciting changes:
- The menu will be expanded
- The space is larger – can accommodate seating for 44 instead of 24
- Liquor will be offered instead of just beer and wine
While Mio Posto has been closed Urschel has been helping out at The Century House in Latham, filling in for an employee on leave.
