When racing season starts it’s hard not to notice the influx of everything race track in downtown Saratoga Springs. The summer revolves around the races and the special events that take place at the track. But this summer, it won’t just be Saratoga that realizes the Saratoga Springs Race Track is an exciting must-see: big names across the country are spreading the word the historic summer pastime is a vibrant thing of the present!
Earlier this season NYRA announced Hannaford locations would begin selling Saratoga Racetrack Merchandise but the overflow of the historic course into the mainstream world, doesn’t stop there.
In addition to the local grocery, Coca Cola, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Coors Light will all be sporting the Saratoga Race Course logo this summer. Coke is sponsoring contests to win trips to Saratoga, while Dunkin’ Donuts will provide coffee and doughnuts for the first time ever in the back yard of the track! Coors Light is merely adding the logo to cases and cans of beer sold locally, but even that spreads the publicity of the Race Track brand.
Even more exciting than these corporate sponsorships though is the television deal between NYRA and NBC. Yes! NBC and VERSUS (a cable sports channel owned by NBC) will feature a series on Saratoga this summer.
Originally, it was just the races that were going to be on TV but now the city of Saratoga Springs will be featured as well! The series will be devoted to showing what is special about Saratoga, in addition to the famous races.
There’s no word yet on what parts of Saratoga will be seen on the small screen, but one thing about the show is for sure: Saratoga will become even more famous! The publicity from the show and from all the big corporations are helping to make Saratoga the spot to be for the summer.
Of course, we in Saratoga know that it was the it-spot all along…
Will you be watching the series? Or will you be out in the streets trying to make a TV appearance? Tell us about your summer plans!
