Saratoga Springs makes it easier for residents to eat organically and buy local with the new Spa City Farmer’s Market, a second farmer’s market to open in Saratoga Springs.
The market itself is more of an experience with live jazz music, places to sit and relax, kids entertainment and, of course, the fresh local food and handmade items!
The Spa City Farmer’s Market will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays starting May 19, 2013. The market will be open to the public year-round at the Saratoga Museum of Dance and Lincoln Baths, just a few minutes South of downtown Saratoga Springs.
The Spa City Farmer’s Market encourages the entire family to come out and experience the goodness of whole foods. They plan to have an entertainment section for kids with fun activities like face painting, caricature drawing and balloon animals. The venue is even 100% dog friendly, so you can literally bring the whole family!
Visitors at the Spa City Farmer’s Market can expect to be able to purchase rich cheeses, organic fruits, fresh veggies, sweet jams, creamy yogurts, baked breads, berries, maple syrup, meats, herbs, honey and other local treats! You can also buy local nonfood items such as soap, sewing crafts, home-spun wool and more at the Spa City Farmers Market.
The Spa City Farmer’s Market is unique in that it’s run by three of the market’s vendors in collaboration with the Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. Shannon Campagna (The Peanut Principle), Susan Kerber (RAD SOAP), and Colleen Zorbas (Zorbas Natural Foods) are hoping to use their entrepreneurial expertise to support the market’s projected 50+ vendors.
Some of this year’s vendors include:
- Buddha Pesto
- Our Daily Bread
- Mariaville Farm
- Saratoga Apple
- Linda’s Country Kitchen
- The RAD Soap Company
- The Peanut Principle
- Zorbas Natural Foods
- Fin – your Fishmonger
- Donna’s Stuf’t Pretzels
- Echo Creek Farm
- Frantzen’s Scenic Acres Farms
- Pucker’s Gourmet
- Dutch Desserts
- And more!
