An international wedding and fashion photographer, Lisa Miller, is also the artist behind the lens of some of Saratoga’s most stunning and unique horse photography, recently recognized with distinctions from ESPN and Bloodhorse.com.
This summer, the new Equine Gallery at Studio di Luce spotlights her acclaimed photography in a place of its own.
With photographs that evoke such emotion, it’s no secret that horses hold a very special place in Miller’s heart. That’s why her sales profit more than just her own bottom line.
Miller is the founder of The Foal Project, a traveling exhibition that supports equine assisted therapies through the sale of powerful images documenting that “sacred and special” moment of bonding between mare and foal at birth.
“Witnessing the healing presence of a horse and its remarkably therapeutic effect on anyone with a physical or mental impairment, from a child with autism to a veteran with PTSD, is the inspiration for my work,” said Miller.
To date, Miller has helped raise $50,000 for equine-assisted therapy centers through The Foal Project.
That work is now continued and expanded through the series of photographs premiering this summer at The Studio di Luce Equine Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY and with the release of Miller’s first book, The Foal Project: Babies of Waldorf Farm (due out July 21st).
Waldorf Farm is located in North Chatham, NY
You may have seen Miller’s work for The Foal Project locally, currently on display in large scale (5ft by 4ft prints) at Saratoga Casino and Raceway, and it was previously showcased at the prestigious Cross Gate Gallery in Lexington, KY. Miller will include some of those works along with new ones at the new gallery and is already planning a new series of images for The Foal Project’s traveling exhibition in 2016.
With prices for prints starting at just $50, and other equine products available, including jewelry, coasters, cards, wood prints, metal prints and more, The Equine Gallery makes giving back as affordable as it is rewarding.
Studio di Luce Gallery is located at 480 Broadway, Suite B in Saratoga Springs, NY (next door to City Hall in the Historic Collamer Building, entrance via the Hungry Spot Cafe).
The new gallery is open by appointment only in June, with more extensive hours planned for July and August 2015. For more information, call 518-956-0702.
We go to the Saratoga Racetrack every year and we love it! I’m not winning a whole lot though, but I do enjoy the horses when they run by us. I really like your last photo the best.
Thank you Richard! Please stop by the gallery sometime and say hello.
