It’s amazing no one has thought of it before – a horse racing convention and trade show right in the spa city! The Saratoga Springs City Center will be hosting the first ever international Equestricon in August 2017, and you won’t want to miss out on this ultimate horse racing event.
Equestricon is the first and only event of its kind that will feature and promote the horse racing lifestyle. If you’re in the industry in any way, or are looking to break into the industry – even if you just enjoy horses – this is going to be an amazing event.
“We got together and we came up with this idea, why don’t we create something that all fans, anyone who’s just interested in racing – whether it’s current owners, people who want to be owners, people who are interested in the breeding process, people who are just interested in horses – let’s create something for them where we can all come under one roof and celebrate and share our love for the sport of horse racing,” Dan Tordjman, horse racing writer and one of the creators of the event, told the Saratogian.
Tordjman is joining breeders and co-founders of Ninety North Racing Stable in Pennsylvania Kathryn Sharp and Justin Nicholson to put together this convention.
Horse racing professionals, owners, trainers, jockeys, breeders, veterinarians, racing journalists, racing fans, and others in the horse industry – even legendary racing personalities – are all coming together to network with one another and take part in Equestricon.

Along with the business networking and fun events like jockey autograph sessions and racing trivia, a big focus of Equestricon will be to discuss serious issues going on in horse racing today. The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, who is serving as Equestricon’s official charity partner, will be a big part of this ongoing discussion – this nonprofit group accredits, inspects, and awards grants to approved aftercare organizations to retire, retrain, and rehome thoroughbreds.
Other topics on the queue for panels include subjects like racing photography, women in racing, breeding, how to get your first job in racing, advanced handicapping, and racing in the media and social media.
Equestricon is happening August 13th through the 15th, 2017 at the Saratoga Springs City Center. Tickets are expected to go on sale sometime in the beginning of the year on the event’s website, equestricon.org.
Tickets will start at $20 for general daily admission to the main convention hall. There will also be full convention general admission packages, all-inclusive packages, and VIP packages.
