Saratoga Arts is awarding $97,800 in grants to 29 organizations and individual artists who are coordinating community arts events in 2017. The grants are part of Saratoga Arts’ Community Arts Grants program and all recipient organizations and artists are located in Fulton, Montgomery, and Saratoga counties.
With funding from the New York State Council on the Arts, Saratoga Arts has awarded $1,243,800 to local organizations and artists since 1991. All awards go to organizations and artists who are organizing community-enhancing and life-enriching arts programs. This year, some recipients include the annual storytelling series coordinated by the Friends of Schoharie Crossing on a portion of the Old “Clinton’s Ditch” Erie Canal, “Not Just for Kids Storytelling,” and Clifton Park’s Not So Common Player’s diner theater production of The Women in My Life.
The grant awardees coordinate free or low-cost public arts events that reach around 37,000 people, including audience members and around 800 members of the local performance and arts community.
An awards ceremony celebrating all the recipients will be held on April 6, 2017 at Saratoga Arts from 6-7 p.m. The public is invited to attend and asked to RSVP at www.saratoga-arts.org.
