Here’s a vibrant way to enhance your summertime of activities in Saratoga beyond strolling Saratoga Spa State Park, playing the ponies or eating and drinking your way through downtown. It’s called art!

A new collection of work from visiting artists and teachers at Skidmore College provides exactly this mind-expanding opportunity. The summer art program at the Schick Art Gallery at Skidmore is now presenting Heat Wave.
This group exhibition features artworks in a variety of genres and materials through July 25th. The exhibition features ceramics, graphic design, prints, paintings, and drawings. These are the work of nine artists: Patrick Casey, Katie DeGroot, Kathy Hemingway-Jones, Sophie Isaak, Joe Klockowski, Hannah Morris, Sana Musasama, Lauren Sandler, and Deborah Zlotsky.
Sana Musasama, a ceramic artist who has studied clay traditions in West Africa and around the world, and Deborah Zlotsky, an abstract painter who teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design, are the two featured visiting artists in Summer 2018. Both will be lecturing this summer, as Musasama delves into her study of world culture and safety of women and Zlotsky — who lives in Albany — will address color and form.
The gallery is located inside the Saisselin Art Building on the Skidmore College campus. Summer gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.
Saratoga is a haven for artists, including the Art in the Park extravaganza coming Sept. 22, 2018.
