Wilton Celebrates 200th Anniversary
After the success of events including the Bicentennial ParkFest and Civil War Weekend, three more fun-filled events are planned through the month of September. The year-long bicentennial bash wraps up with a community dinner party on December 29.
“It’s hard to believe that we are approaching the last months of Wilton’s Bicentennial Year,” said Bicentennial Committee Chairperson Sue Lant in a statement. “Our committee has been meeting for two and a half years planning this year’s Bicentennial Celebration…We’ve enjoyed watching our community join in this year of celebration and remembrance of our rich history.”
Upcoming Bicentennial signature events include:
- Wilton Historic Sites Home Tour: Sunday, September 16 from 10 AM to 3 PM | On this self-guided tour, learn about 16 historic homes and sites in Wilton. Tour books are available at the Wilton Heritage Museum.
- Bicentennial Ribbon Cutting and Time Capsule Burial: Thursday, September 20 from 3 PM to 4 PM
- Taste of Wilton at Gavin Park: Sunday, September 23 from 1 PM to 4 PM | Enjoy samples from local restaurants, farms, wineries, and distilleries. Ranging from $1 to $6 in price, all proceeds will benefit local neighbors in need through the Wilton Food Pantry. Taste of Wilton Event Chairperson Susan Garrett said in a statement, “This event is near to my heart. It’s about showcasing fresh produce and restaurants but mostly about embracing our local farms and in turn helping to feed our food challenged neighbors. It’s a complete circle of supporting each other.”
- The Wilton Bicentennial Holiday Community Dinner: Saturday, December 29 at 6 PM | Enjoy a delicious meal and dance the night away at the Wilton-Saratoga Elks Club.
