Wondering what to do during this year’s new second dark day at the Track? Visit one of the most important fine art museums in the Northeast. The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, usually closed on Mondays, is opening its doors 7 days a week this July and August to allow more visitors to discover everything the museum has to offer. Museum Mondays begin July 15 and go through August 26, and admission hours will be 10 am to 5 pm.
They’re also making the trip easy for visitors from the Spa City. The Hyde Collection has partnered with Albany Auto Group to provide a free shuttle service to and from the museum. Shuttles will depart The Adelphi Hotel on Broadway every Monday at 10 am and 1 pm, and return passengers to the historic hotel at 12:30 pm and and 3:30 pm, respectively.
The Hyde Collection features traditional galleries, as well as the historic Hyde House. The mansion is furnished with the art and artifacts collected by the museum’s founders, including furniture from the Renaissance and paintings by many of the Old and Modern Masters.
While you’re there, explore almost 4,000 items from the permanent collection and check out the latest special exhibitions, including From the Rooftops: John Sloan and the Art of a New Urban Space, Masterpieces Under the Microscope: Andrea della Robbia and James Brade Sword, A Selection of Masterworks from the Feibes & Schmitt Collection, and From Bauhaus to Black Mountain College.
Take advantage of your next Monday off from the Track and use the day to explore everything The Hyde Collection and Glens Falls has to offer.
