This open mic is for all styles of music and spoken word performance, including poetry, comedy, and storytelling. Most of what you'll hear is original songs on acoustic instruments, but we warmly welcome whatever you have to offer.
Performer registration is from 7 to 7:25 PM. Performances start at 7:30. No advance registration by phone is permitted.
Participants play two songs or speak for 10 minutes.
Excessive profanity and vulgarity are strongly discouraged. Please bear in mind that Caff? Lena is not a bar and often has children in the audience.

You will be highly entertained by this Americana-Jazz duo featuring dad Tim Thompson and son Myles Thompson! Their high-energy instrumental and vocal duets are inspired by Chet Atkins, Stephane Grappelli, Chick Corea, and even Jackson Browne.
Tim is an International Fingerstyle Guitar Champion (winner at both Walnut Valley and the International Fingerstyle Competition) who has been featured in several national magazines. He has been endorsed by Taylor Guitars, Elixir Strings, and several other national brands.
Myles is an extraordinarily gifted young fiddler who, though still in his teens, already has several years of national touring under his belt.
The chemistry between this father and son takes what would be technically impressive and raises it to the level of delightful entertainment.

Session Americana is a Boston-based rock band in a tea cup, or possibly a folk band in a whiskey bottle. On stage is a collapsible bar table wired with microphones, a vintage suitcase recast as a kick drum, an old Estey field organ, a pre-war parlor guitar, a harmonica case fire damaged when Jack's bar went up in flames and graffitied by Depeche Mode roadies, and an assortment of other instruments that get passed around in this freewheeling modern hootenanny. The anything-could-happen feel of a Session show depends on craft that's not accidental or easily won; they bring a kind of ease and genuineness to timeless Americana music, sometimes presenting the latest batch of original songs, sometimes reaching back into depths of the American "song bag".

Washington County Line plays straight-ahead traditional bluegrass, seasoned with bluegrass interpretations of early country, folk, and contemporary tunes. They feature the songs of bluegrass
giants Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, and Red Allen, as well as folk music icons and singer-songwriters including Gordon Lightfoot, Tom Paxton, Bob Dylan, and Ralph McTell.
Winners of the 2011 Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival band competition in Tunbridge, Vermont, Washington County Line features the talents of Steve Wood and Sean Quinn on guitars and lead and harmony vocals; Daryl Smith on banjo and harmony vocals; Ken Meyer on bass; and Andy Bing on dobro and mandolin.

If you have the Blues, play the blues, or love the Blues we got you covered! Caffe Lena, The Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society and the Capital Region Blues Network have teamed up to present a monthly acoustic blues open mic.
We're looking for acoustic Blues players of all ages, styles, and playing levels to present Blues originals and covers on the famed Caffe Lena stage. Get connected with members of SABS and the CRBN as well as other Blues fans and become a part of what's happening in the Blues scene.
Bring your acoustic guitar, harps, slides, mandolin, bass or whatever (Lena's has the piano) and sign up for a slot to play solo, as a duo, ensemble or even have players in the room join you on stage.
The event will be held on the 4th Wednesday of the month and hosted by SABS & CRBN member Sonny Speed. Sign up is 7pm. Names are pulled out of a lottery at 7:30. A monthly featured act opens up with a short set. The open mic follows. Admission is $5

H PetsThe Heavy Pets are an American band that was deemed a "living, breathing force of nature" by Relix. The Pets are known for their soulful song-craft and powerhouse live performances of their infectious dance songs.
The group became an instant Sirius radio sensation with the release of their double-disc debut album, Whale (2007), driven by hit tracks "Operation of Flight" and "Sleep."
First embraced by the jam scene for their raw talent, the cross-over sound that is showcased on their self-titled album (2010), which was dubbed a "Top 10 Album of 2010" by The Huffington Post, propelled them into the periphery of mainstream music.
Returning to their acoustic roots for their third studio release, Swim Out Past the Sun (2011), THP's guitar duo set aside their electric axes for a more organic approach. Featuring a three song sit-in by longtime Jerry Garcia collaborator David Grisman, the album presents a fresh perspective from the ever-evolving quintet. THP and SOPTS were produced and recorded by multi-platinum, Grammy and Oscar Award-winner Scott Mathews and mastered by Grammy Award-winner Vlado Meller.
Following the intensive recording sessions of their previous two releases, the Pets were eager to produce a raw product more true to their notorious live sound while adapting to the current recorded music market. That desire is where the Everywhere Sessions was born. Everywhere Sessions: Volume 1 EP was recorded in the AURA Music Events Studio in two takes with zero overdubbing or editing and features three previously unreleased tracks from three different song-writers and three different eras. One chilly evening, early in the fall of 2010, Adam Brockway, Dave Wright, Carl Anderson, Luke Anderson and Zack Infante gathered by a woodstove in a barn on the outskirts of Greenwich, NY. With a snare, a kick, and an old beat up high hat, Carl began teaching himself how to play the drums while Adam and Zack played along on guitars, Luke on banjo and Dave on bass. Vocal melodies and harmonies were flowing like the beer from their cans and within a few hours, the group had written 2 songs front to back and it was obvious, at least to the brand new quintet, that they had immediately put together a sound that was just as unique as it was traditional.
