I’ve been so busy these past few months that I have neglected one of my best friends; the Public library. Yesterday afternoon I spent a better part of the day there. I borrowed Mark Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny and Eduardo Galeano’s Mirrors at a friends suggestion.
I then wandered into the Book Bag (the used book store in the library) and scored Ruth Reichl’s 1998 memoir, Tender at the Bone-Growing up at the Table. It was only $2!! Ruth Reichl is probably one of the best food writers of our time. Everyone thinks that they can write intelligently about food and make it interesting but very few people actually know what they are talking about. Not everyone can be M.F.K. Fisher, Ruth Reichl or Anthony Bourdain.
