After 2 years as the bridesmaid Zenyatta is finally the bride! Monday night it
was announced that Zenyatta was the 2010 recipient of the Eclipse Award.
Three years ago Ann and Jerry Moss bought her for … cue drum roll … $60,000.
She then won all of her first 19 starts losing only her final race, to Blame at
the Breeders Cup last fall. Zenyatta is now at Land’s End Farm in Kentucky,
awaiting her first breeding date with an as yet unnamed stallion.
Other 2010 Eclipse Award winners:
Todd Pletcher … Trainer
Ramon Dominguez … Jockey
WinStar Farm … Owner
Adena Springs …
Breeder
Steeplechase Horse …
Slip Away
Apprentice Jockey …
Omar Moreno
2-Year-Old Male …
Uncle Mo
2-Year-Old Filly …
Awesome Feather
3-Year-Old Male …
Lookin’ At Lucky
3-Year-Old Filly …
Blind Luck
It’s always fun to look
a list such as these 2010 Eclipse Winners a full season after it comes out to
see who was solid and whose star shone for just that one year. The best, like
Zenyatta, prove themselves from start to finish.
