When You Absolutely Have To Go
By Nancy Muldoon
While out shopping or just taking a simple stroll through beautiful downtown Saratoga Springs one has to expect that eventually you will have to use a restroom.
Since most restaurants and businesses have implemented an archaic, “Restrooms for customers only rule” one has to be a little more resilient when you have no intention of buying anything just to answer natures call.
Here is a list of places where you can use the facilities without worrying about being accosted or pulled over by the “bathroom police”
• Arts Center- Broadway and Spring Street, probably the cleanest restroom in town because not too many people realize that there is a public restroom in there.
• Saratoga Public Library- a good old stand by, generally pretty clean and is open from 9am-9pm Monday-Thursday, Saturday 9-6pm, and Sunday 12-5pm
• Borders- Must go to the second floor to use the facilities but they do have an elevator in the back of the store if you can’t navigate the stairs.
• Uncommon Grounds- Broadway. Can be clean or absolutely out of toilet paper and soap, so make sure you check for these essentials before it’s too late.
• Friendly’s Restaurant- Congress Street Plaza, probably the best feature of this restaurant is that you don’t have to schlep through the place to access the restroom. It is located in the vestibule area which is placed between Friendly’s and the Chinese Restaurant next door.
• Holiday Inn- Broadway- Always clean and accessible to the public as is Saratoga Hotel located at the other end of Broadway.
• Stewarts- Various locations- You will have to ask for a key. A sort of “last resort” restroom as they can be filthy, out of toilet paper so proceed with caution.
