PERFORMER BIO:

Bob Zink

Bob Zink is a process engineer turned musician and luthier living in Rock City Falls, Saratoga County, NY, where he has his workshop and a music studio/performance space.  He repairs any string instruments, but specializes in all aspects of restoration and setup of the double bass. He and wife Nancy also own a vacation rental apartment that has also been frequented by many musicians coming through the area.

His longest standing gig is 18 years as cantor, song leader and bassist at St. Paul’s Church, half a mile down the road; also serving as music director for many of those years. He is currently very excited to be working with the Heather Richards band, recently nominated the Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Awards & Capital Records Live Country/Bluegrass Artist of the Year. Bob also provides bass and vocals in his own band, Special Creek; a once traditional, but now bluegrass-fusion, tending toward country rock band.

Mr. Zink is proud to carry on as bassist for The Adirondack Fiddlers of Schuylerville, the oldest organization of its kind in the area, where traditional music making is kept alive at their monthly public meeting and performance.

Some of the venues Bob has played include: Bethel Woods Ctr. for the Arts – open for Ralph Stanley, Rhonda Vincent, others; Silver Bay YMCA Auditorium, built 1909 – open for The Gibson Brothers; Caffe Lena – more than one occasion with Special Creek; The Washington County Fair – his own bands and annually with the ADK Fiddlers; The Gideon Putnam Hotel – several years, benefitting racing backstretch workers (at one performance, 70’s teen idol David Cassidy sat in with the band for a few songs).

Bob can also be seen playing out with several other local groups, but most of the time, you can catch him holding down a jam somewhere, like the twice-monthly one at the Milton community center; or else right in his own studio space.
